A free, private, browser-based split-shift timesheet — built for workers whose schedule doesn't fit one clock-in and one clock-out.
Split shifts are one of the most poorly served scheduling patterns in payroll software. Most free timesheet tools online assume a single clock-in and clock-out per day, which leaves out home health aides working a morning and evening visit, restaurant staff pulling a lunch and dinner service, and gig workers stacking short jobs across a day. We built Calculate My Hours specifically to handle that gap — a calculator that treats multiple shifts per day as the normal case, not an edge case.
The tool runs entirely in your browser. There's no account to create, no app to install, and no data sent to any server. You enter your clock-in and clock-out times, the tool totals your hours, and everything stays on your device.
Each day supports up to three separate shifts. Enter a clock-in and clock-out time for each one, in whatever format is fastest for you — 9 AM, 9:00, 900, or 24-hour time like 17:30 all work. The calculator converts each entry, sums the hours worked per shift, and rolls those up into a daily total, a weekly subtotal, and a full pay-period summary.
If you flip on overtime tracking in Settings, you can choose whether overtime is calculated per week (hours beyond a weekly threshold, commonly 40) or per day (hours beyond a daily threshold, commonly 8) — useful if your job pays overtime for any single long day rather than only after a long week. The calculator splits regular and overtime hours automatically based on whichever mode you pick, and shows the breakdown on each week card as well as in a sub-total bar under every week and the pay-period totals bar at the bottom.
Those totals bars also track Gap Time — the unpaid time between your shifts each day, like the stretch between a lunch-shift clock-out and a dinner-shift clock-in. It's rolled up per week and for the full pay period automatically, so you can see at a glance how much of your day is unpaid downtime. When your pay period is complete, the Export PDF button turns the whole thing into a clean, printable document you can hand to a payroll coordinator, attach to an invoice, or keep for your own tax records.
Split shifts show up across a wide range of jobs. Calculate My Hours is a good fit for:
If your schedule doesn't fit neatly into one clock-in and one clock-out, this tool was made for you.
We also maintain a small library of guides on split-shift scheduling:
Calculate My Hours is a calculator, not a source of legal or payroll advice. Overtime rules, split-shift premiums, meal-break requirements, and minimum-wage thresholds vary by employer, industry, and location, and they change over time. We don't tell you what your employer owes you — we just help you add up the hours you actually worked so you have an accurate record to work from. For anything involving pay disputes or your legal rights as a worker, check with your employer's HR department, your state labor office, or a qualified employment attorney.
All timesheet data is saved in your browser's local storage. Nothing you enter is ever transmitted to a server, stored in a database, or shared with any third party. Clearing your browser's local storage will erase your data — it exists only on your device. Full details, including how advertising and analytics scripts interact with your visit, are on our Privacy Policy page.
Calculate My Hours is an independent, one-person project. It started as a personal tool for tracking split shifts and grew into something worth sharing once it became clear how few free options existed for workers with irregular schedules. There's no company, no investors, and no data-selling business model — just a small utility kept running by ad revenue and maintained in spare time.
We're a small independent project and we read every message. If something isn't working, you have a feature request, or you just want to say hello — reach out via our contact page.
